Music Video Draft 1
Friday, March 10, 2017
I present the long awaited first draft of my music video. There are still a few spaces that need filling (10 seconds has ever felt so long) but I'm happy (ish) with it so far.
After this draft I received some feedback from a peer with some ideas and alterations I could include which I found quite valuable.
I really like it Josie, it actually made me feel a lot of sympathy for her and has a real emotional punch to it. So in that sense, mission accomplished.
- Perhaps start with a white screen and blur in the baby clothes
- I think there should be some quick pacing (perhaps double time to the beat) to signify how quickly her life has changed
- Brief bit of Face time footage from someone else’s phone with you showing him/her off?
- Come of the shots are a little blurry Shot a little blurry
- With the beat changes perhaps some quick cutaways (you happy, gig tickets being replaced by pics of you and bear etc)
- Cutaways of scrolling through Facebook events that she can’t go to followed by quick cutaway of your eyes looking sad and that, eyeline match from you to ‘teddy’
- Need to look more knackered towards the end, could use a filter for this.
- Shot of empty bed. Perhaps again, quick cutaway of you exhausted trying to catch 5-10 mins nap.
- If filming again maybe make the room messier
- Before the bin liner shot, perhaps a cutaway of you sat staring at the pile of baby stuff, a bit of a repeat of the shot of you and teddy on the bed earlier on.
- Last 40 seconds – think we need a few more cutaways of sad looking Josie perhaps near the end a mid shot of you zipping up your coat and leaving the house (OSS of eyeline match and CU of you looking into the distance taking a deep breath and facing your future before the sad baby shot.
- Other idea was to have you sat head in hands on the sofa perhaps looking blankly into the middle distance or at the camera with a despondent look but film it twice and with the second take move the bear around a lot as if it is crawling and getting everywhere.
- Picking loads of baby stuff off of the floor
- Perhaps an over the shoulder shot of you writing a letter to the baby for the future but screwing it up or not being able to finish it.
